Egypt’s President Emphasises Food Security In Meeting On Agricultural Development

In a landmark discussion focused on advancing the nation’s agricultural prowess, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi convened with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and key governmental figures this past Wednesday. The assembly was a strategic review of Egypt’s ambitious agricultural initiatives, aiming to propel the nation into a new era of food security and sustainable development.

The session delved into numerous pivotal projects that span across Egypt, accentuating the government’s commitment to bolstering the agricultural sector. Prominent among these initiatives is ‘Egypt’s Future’ project in the New Delta, a testament to the country’s forward-looking agri-endeavors. Additional projects of note include innovative agricultural endeavors in Fayoum, Minya, and Beni Suef, alongside the Sanabel Sonno project in Aswan, and the transformative Dakhla project in the southern expanses of Egypt.

Under the spotlight, President Sisi called for an intensification of the commendable progress these projects have already marked. According to Presidential Spokesperson Ahmed Fahmy, “The President underscored the critical need to escalate the successful strides gained by these initiatives.” This directive aligns with the broader state objectives of enhancing agricultural expanses, anchoring food security amidst global unpredictabilities, and fostering an uptick in national income.

The assembly underscored the dual goal of ensuring the availability of high-caliber agricultural products within local markets at consumer-friendly prices and elevating the quantum of exports. The envisioned outcome is a robust agricultural sector that not only meets domestic demands but also positions Egypt as a key player in the global agricultural market.

In attendance, alongside Prime Minister Madbouly, were key figures such as Mohamed Shaker, the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy; Hani Sewilam, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation; Amir Syed Ahmed, the Presidential Advisor for Urban Planning; Ahmed Al-Azazy, Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority; and Bahaa Ghanam, the CEO of Egypt’s Future Agency for Sustainable Development. Their collective presence underscored the multidisciplinary approach Egypt is taking towards revolutionizing its agricultural sector, linking energy, water management, urban planning, and sustainable development in a cohesive strategy.

These convened efforts spotlight Egypt’s holistic strategy in confronting the challenges of food security. By leveraging the synergy between government planning, advanced agricultural techniques, and sustainable resource management, Egypt is setting a precedent in ensuring the future well-being of its citizens while contributing significantly to global food markets.
